本学は、去る５月１日、本学と利害関係を持たない第三者委員を含む特別検討委員会を設置し、本学と本学から退学処分等となった学生らとの間で一連の紛争が生じた原因の究明及び当該紛争に関する事実の存否、並びに本学の学生に対する一連の対応の妥当性及び学校運営に対する検証、評価を行っていただくことを発表致しました。以下、本特別検討委員会の概要についてお知らせいたします。
1. 本特別検討委員会の設置の目的：
一部の日本人学生に対する退学処分及び学習環境・生活環境に関して、退学処分となった学生や、一部メディアによる主張と大学の主張との間に大きな乖離があります。本特別検討委員会は客観的な視点から双方からのヒアリングを行い、一連のプロセスや大学が学生に提供する環境について検討し、実態の把握、原因分析、再発防止策、本検討を踏まえた大学側として取るべき対応を、本学に報告・助言することを目的としております。なお、現在、退学に処せられた一部の学生が本学を相手に訴訟を準備しているとの情報がありますが、本特別検討委員会は裁判を前提とした活動とは位置付けておらず、本学と在学生・元学生の間で起こった事案について、当事者及び関係者各位に対して実態を把握したうえ報告することを趣旨としております。
2. 本特別検討委員会の構成：
本件に対して、透明性を確保しつつ、双方の主張を踏まえた公平な調査を行うため、本学とは利害関係を有しない外部の有識者も含めた構成要員としております。各委員の略歴は以下のとおりです。

北海道札幌市出身。上智大学外国語学部卒。東京大学大学院（国際関係論）、英国サセックス大学大学院（開発経済学）で修士号取得。ファーストシカゴ銀行（東京）、国連開発計画（ニューヨーク）、日本国際協力機構（東京）、国際金融公社（ワシントンDC）で、３０年ほど主に発展途上国の開発問題に取り組む。東海大学、早稲田大学、秋田国際大学、上智大学等で客員講師を務める。現在は米国ハワイ州に在住し、地元ロータリークラブのボランティア活動に従事

Public policy analyst and government relations strategist having over a decade of experience as a geopolitical and political economic analyst, with a focus on Southeast Asia. He was honored a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2013 and Southeast Asian Young Leader by the IISS-Shangri-La Dialogue in 2016. President – Asian Vision Institute (AVI), Chairman of the Advisory Council of the National Assembly of Cambodia, Advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Board Member at the Kirirom Institute of Technology (KIT), Cambodia and Adjunct Lecturer at the School of Social Sciences, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. 3. 今後の対応について：
本学および関係組織は、本特別検討委員会に対して全面的に協力してまいりますとともに、 本特別検討委員会の報告内容については一般に公開させて頂きます。なお、各国のCovid-19に伴う渡航制約により、本特別検討委員会による調査に一定の時間を要するため、本特別検討委員会による報告書の提出時期については、決定次第お知らせ致します。
